If you relish a challenge and have a taste for adventure, or just like fresh air and fantastic scenery, Portrush has all the right ingredients. Whether you like to do your own thing or prefer organised pursuits, the diversity and quality of facilities is superb.

 

Surfing

Portrush is the surfing capital of Northern Ireland with excellent surfing off the Blue Flag beaches. Participants are looked after by various dedicated shops and surfing schools.  There is a dedicated water sports facility under construction.

Fishing

Fishing is available both from the shore or by boat. There are various vessels available for hire from the harbour or there are many locations suitable for fishing off the shore either from the beaches or rocks

Cycling

There are dedicated cycle ways along the coast for off road cycling and also marked routes to enjoy the spectacular views along the Causeway Coast

There are 12 tennis courts available at the Recreation grounds

Bowling


There are two bowling greens availiable located at the Recreation Grounds.

Golf


Portrush is home to one of the finest links courses in the world, Royal Portrush, which has hosted the Open and the British seniors. There are also numerous other fine courses locally

Walking

This is a popular activity with many Portrush visitors. Some wish to simply take a gentle stroll by sauntering along the resort’s seafronts; others prefer a brisk walk along the beach to enjoy stimulating exercise, bracing air and fantastic scenery.
